The Method
All of my rings are made with a bent wood technique that involves wrapping thin layers of wood around itself. This process results in a strong, durable ring that’s incredibly lightweight. When I say these rings are hand-made, I mean truly made by hand. The whole process from bending all the way through to finishing is done with meticulous care and without the use of any power tools. Even the rocks in the stone inlays are crushed by hand. The only exception to this are the rings with stainless steel cores. Grinding steel with hand tools? That’s just crazy talk.
Each ring is finished with a light coat of oil to bring out its color and a hardened waterproof seal to protect it from the elements. I hand-polish this finish to a high gloss that transforms the ring from curiously round bit of wood to a truly unique piece of jewelry.
Because wood can have minor variances in color and appearance, no two rings are exactly alike. I custom-build each ring to order based on your input and ideas. A finished Bentwood Forge ring is a one-of-a-kind work of art.
